Weather Policy

We will not hold a practice or game during a period where there is active thunder and lightning.  That type of weather is a major safety concern, especially with no indoor cover available at our outdoor playing fields.  We will wait at least a half hour after such activity to resume activities.

The Board of Directors has adopted the following bad weather notification policy for our outdoor program:

We will make a decision, whether the session is question will proceed, or not, no later than 45 minutes before any session's scheduled start time.

We will contact the coaches and advise them of our final decision to continue with a session, or not. If a session is delayed or cancelled, we will contact families by e-mail and tell them of the delay or cancellation. Families having no email account will receive a phone call.

Weather decisions will be posted on our website's homepage and broadcast email message will be sent to parent's email accounts.

Players on our teams coming the furthest distance will be contacted first (Buffalo, Tonawanda, Grand Island,  Pembroke, etc.).

Each session will generally be handled on a case by case basis, with any decision to continue or not made within 45 minutes of the session's start time.

The decision to cancel an entire evening's activities will be made based on actual weather, field conditions and official weather advisory statements.

We will advise our players of this bad weather policy at our first session so that they know what to expect from us.  This should help to keep our phones freer so that we can communicate back in forth with coaches regarding these decisions.
